Yorkshire Yomping Forty of our members returned from an excellent 3 night stay at Nidd Hall (left), near Harrogate. some are feeling a bit “Worse for wear” after 4 days walking and 3 nights partying! Their holiday started gently in good weather with 2 walks, lead by Alison Hayton and Margaret Harker into Harrogate from the outlying countryside. On Saturday they woke to a damp and misty day. Mervyn Cramer, Bob Grave and Alan Platt each lead walks from Brimham Rocks to finish in Pateley Bridge. Sunday gave them a brighter but showery day. They had two walks, one lead by Jack Roberts and the other by Anne Clark. Jacks walk was a circular from Ripon, taking in a two hour visit to Fountains Abbey. Anne’s group enjoyed a three hour visit to Fountains Abbey. They then walked into Ripon from the abbey, where transport took them all back to Nidd Hall. They Left Nidd Hall on Monday morning to enjoy 3 grades of walks, all finishing in Ilkley. Gill Gale, David Hayton and Margaret Ireland lead the walks in good weather. They enjoyed fine and views over Wharfedale, to end their holiday on a “high note” Thanks are expressed to their coach driver for his endeavours over the weekend, and the leaders were thanked for leading walks, on what was largely unknown territory.
